THE WINERY

Welcome to Peltzer Family Cellars, where the pumpkins grow and the wine flows! After five generations of farmers, our family’s journey continues on, building our very own dream winery in Southern California Wine Country. Here at Peltzer, family and friends come first. Our annual pumpkin harvest welcomes thousands of families every fall and we’ve created the perfect setting for weddings and events. As we continue to grow, we continue to introduce new events and opportunities for families and friends to make memories with us.

Our Crush House is a tasting room like no other! The building embodies Charlie’s farming roots and Carrie’s passion for design. In the Crush House, enjoy Peltzer wine tastings, bottles, and glasses. Grab a seat on our porch, it’s a charming spot to relax and enjoy the things we love the most: quality time with friends and a GREAT glass of wine.

P.S. As you visit the property, take note of what’s around you – much of what you see is an accumulation of our vintage finds and recycled materials made into something “new”. Come on down and see why Peltzer rules the roost!

Cheers!

OUR VINEYARDS

On our farm, we focus on warm weather, Mediterranean-style grape varietals. Some of our favorites suit the Temecula Valley Wine Country’s bright sunny days and cool evenings. Each year, our team farms with a careful sense of balance, willing to sacrifice quantity to increase quality of the grapes left on the vine to ripen, ensuring that the most elevated farming practices are upheld.

By understanding and utilizing Temecula’s terrior, Charlie planted three well-suited grape varietals in 2010. These include Italy’s famous Sangiovese and Barbera, as well as the notoriously thicker skinned French grape, Petite Sirah. By focusing on these vineyards, we have the unique opportunity to provide small lot, boutique-style wine to all of our guests.

FARMING HISTORY

Our family has been farming for over a 100 years, and we’re proud to continue the legacy with Peltzer Farm & Winery! It all started in 1913, when Charlie’s great, great grandfather, Charles Peltzer, left Pretty Prairie, Kansas for Southern California to pursue the American Dream. The family put down their roots on a 20 acre citrus grove in Anaheim, where they cultivated their family business for the next 41 years. In 1954, the farm became a part of history, selling to the one and only, Walt Disney; and just like that, the family farm became the Happiest Place on Earth–Disneyland.

Charles and his son relocated the citrus farm where it not only grew, but flourished. Soon, the 3rd generation entered when Charles II (Charlie’s dad) joined his dad and grandfather to launch Peltzer’s Pine Tree Farm. Still running today, the farm has been bringing families together every Holiday Season for over 50 years. Following in his father’s footsteps, our very own Charlie (the third!) joined the family business, opening a pumpkin farm on one of his dad’s Pine Tree Farm locations.

Along came Carrie, and Charlie’s pumpkin business quickly became a family affair. Soon, with the addition of our two boys, (and future-farmers) Charlie (Charles IV) & Max, we decided it was time to pursue our dream of raising our boys on our own family farm. In 2004, we moved onto 25 acres in the Temecula Valley Wine Country and brought Peltzer’s Pumpkin Farm with us, continuing the tradition of bringing families together on the farm.

Now, we start a new chapter as we open Peltzer Family Cellars. This year, we are celebrating 26 years of farming, and our hope is to watch our boys grow into 5th generation Peltzer Farmers right here in the Temecula Valley.
